Everyone has his or her routines. I like to eat breakfast at Bally’s Coffee Shop on Thursday mornings.  Many of my old gambling buddies know that I can be found there.  Seven months ago my meal had just arrived when Jake, an old craps player arrived at my table.

I wasn’t in the mood for puzzles.  “Yeah, there’s a whole lot of gambling going on over there.  What else is new?”

“I met a man the other night who is giving their roulette pit fits.”

“What’s he doing?  He’s not winning too much is he?”

“How did you know? He has been playing there just about every night.  The thing is that he never seems to lose.”

He had my attention.  “Tell me more.”

“I watched him last night for about 45 minutes.  He made a few bets and then waited.  Crazy as it seems I didn’t see him lose a bet.”

“What was he doing?”

Jake told me what he knew.  I made a mental note to follow up on this.  Two days later I ran into a shift boss from the MGM Grand at another of my hangouts.

I Had Just Walked Into the Restaurant When Tony B. Caught My Eye

I was heading for a lunch meeting with a real estate developer who wanted to tell me about some land he was selling when Tony B. waved me over.  I walked to his table and said hello.

Tony had a worried look when I asked him how he was doing.

“We got a problem over at the Grand.”

“Everybody’s got some kind of problem. What is it, resistant cocktail waitresses that won’t go out with you?”

He shook his finger at me.  “Not those kinds of problems.  I mean a real problem.  It started about two weeks ago and is getting worse.”

“But, its not his eyes that are bothering you, is it?”

“Hell no.  It’s his winning.”

Tony explained that they had done all of their usual ssurveillance.  They had switched dealers and even reviewed videotapes of his play.

“We even closed a wheel down and had a mechanic check it to make sure it was in balance. Natch, it was.”

I listened for about five more minutes.  “Tell you what Tony.  I’ll try to come by and meet Mr. Betz.  Sounds like an interesting guy.

Tony nodded.  “When you do tell him to spread his play around. Tell him to try Caesars for a change.

Tony had been fired by Caesars Palace several years ago and had never forgiven them.

“I’ll see what I can do,” I said as I left for my meeting.

The Next Night I Got a Call From Tony

I picked up the phone and heard, “He’s back.”  I recognized Tony’s voice.  I’ll be down in a few minutes.

“Oh I’m sure he’ll still be here.  He’s playing roulette in the high-limit room.  Last time I checked he was up $11,000 with no signs of slowing down. You can’t miss him.  He’s wearing a beige sports coat and dark slacks.  Look for the killer eyes.  You can’t miss him.”

About thirty minutes later I walked into the MGM Grand’s high-limit area.

He wasn’t hard to spot.  He was at the $100 minimum single-zero wheel.  He had several stacks of $1,000 chips in front of him.  He was playing calmly like a shark feeding on a school of herring. 

I stood back several feet and watched him play.  It looked like he was using some kind of system using street bets.  He would calmly set up his bets, occasionally adjust them or add to them and then wait for a win.

In the time I was watching him he never missed a win.  I looked up and Tony was signaling me across the room.

I walked over to Tony and he suggested we head for the coffee shop for what he called “a high level meeting.”

Tony and I sat down, ordered coffee and I filled him in.

Online Play! I Win $7,891 in Four Hours!

Betz had not tested his system much online.  From what I could see it should work fine, but you never know until you try.

I signed on to one of my favorite online casinos.  I saw that I still had a balance of $403 in the account.

I played about thirty minutes in free practice mode just to warm up.  Street Smart Roulette seemed to perform even better in an online game.

I had cash on deposit with Aria so I simply signed a marker to get started.  I glanced at the scoreboard at the roulette table, picked my numbers and started setting up my bets.

On the second spin I had my first hit.  I picked up my winning chips, glanced at the scoreboard again, selected my numbers and made the bets.

I kept track of my winnings by arranging my stacks of chips.  In about 35 minutes I had won $1,000.  I sat the chips aside as my locked up winnings and I kept on playing.

After about an hour and a half I needed a break.  I counted up and saw that I was $3,390 ahead.  As I walked around I couldn’t help but thinking, “Damn, but this is fun!”

I came back to the same table.  The dealer had saved my spot and she greeted me like a long lost friend.  At this point I had tipped her at least $50 and I could see that she was definitely on my side.  I noticed that I attracted a floorman.  Must be a new one, I thought as I didn’t know him.  I starting talking to him about football – always a good subject for casino personnel.

Fifteen dollar bets are a little cumbersome but if you just think of three five dollar chips as one unit it helps.

After the win I set up new sets of bets and waited for the inevitable win.  This one took a little longer than usual.  However, I played with confidence and when the win came it was a sizable one.  The dealer smiled at me and I tossed two $5 chips her way.

I glanced at my phone and saw that it was 11:20 AM.  Time to start wrapping it up.

I was really amazed how fast I was winning making $50 bets.  About thirty minutes after I started I was up another $4,000.  I was tipping Jeanette about every third win.  The Asian sounded like he was praying to the wheel in some unknown dialect.  Jeanette took a break and Laurie took her place.

I glanced over at Betz.  I noticed that he had a growing stack of five hundred and thousand dollar chips.

After Jeanette returned from break, I asked her about betting limits and explained what I wanted to do.  She called over a floorman and we chatted for a minute.

“Net win of $27,958.  No losses to deduct.”  He smiled.

I pulled my own notes out. “I won $32,707.”

After relaxing a little Betz brought up the subject of validating the system.

Phil Challenges and Beats the Las Vegas Roulette Tables!

Phil is a long-time acquaintance of mine.  While his game is blackjack he agreed to test Street Smart Roulette in Las Vegas and keep track of all of his play.

Phil is 43 years old and crafty as an old fox.  He frequently plays and wins in Las Vegas.
